The number three problem is that our culture no longer values involvement in education. Parents aren't typically involved for example.

Actually, my experience is different here. I think in the 60s and 70s many parents relied on the "system" to raise their kids. These days nobody does that because they cant, the public schools have fallen apart.

Im speaking of middle class mostly, I know there are terrible problems in the inner city and I agree there needs to be more involvement there but there are some other major problems that need to be fixed before that is going to happen, adequate housing, healthcare etc.
