Yes it looks like Sun is opening up Java 2 to independent development. I am not sure how this relates to Corel even though being involved in Java development it seems that Corel has hitched its wagon to the Linux movement in a serious way. So I am wondering where the Linux thing is going. From the discussion on this thread it seems that Corel has some problems with internal organizational dynamics. In any case the company has gotten to where it is somehow, and that may be because management are able grasp quickly important opportunities and run with them. It has looked like the WP acquisition was a big mistake, but maybe not in the long term, especially if it gains market share in Linux. Certainly Microsoft is damned if they support Linux and maybe damned if they don"t.
