Unisys implemented a large server configuration which used a proprietary chipset. CPQ's 8-way design is based on a chipset co-developed with corollary (now owned by Intel). I know that CPQ does a lot of design and service business at the NAZ in addition to the Tandem systems, and the Tandem people claim that NAZ continues to order more systems. I don't know the details of this particular installation but it looks like a pilot project, and maybe the consultants had a reason to use the Unisys box for the test system.
