I'm not going to suggest that this couldn't happen, but usually these type of "inventory corrections" are more a retail phenomena. Intel's Q1 (and I assume a good portion of 1999) strength will be coming from the corporate/server world.

I agree that a literal across the board "shortage" would be inconsistent with falling prices, but I don't think it is inconsistent with strong demand or even very strong demand. Did Dell actually claim a general shortage or specific models/segments??
