E Trade and other thoughts I won't argue that sometimes confirmations are a problem, but executions usually aren't. But I will agree that it is hard to cover a short position when it hasn't been confirmed. They did give me free Level II access and real time news feed for being an active trader (I know that others do this too, so please do not flame me everybody). That was interesting today, as I saw news about SKYM when it was asking 4 7/16, which was pretty cool. It would have been even cooler if I had placed my buy order right then. I just wanted to take a minute to express my thanks to Jay and Sue who consistently remind us that it is critical to minimize losses. It is the single most important thing out there to do. I need to do a better job about this aspect of my trading. I am still very wary of the market, although there seems to be endless funds available for investment to keep everything afloat. But I can't help thinking about how when everyone says the market is going to go in one direction, it doesn't always do that. So I think I am going to try and be a little more contemplative for a while, I am basically all in cash, and I'd like to try and end each day like that for a while. I did not close a big winning short position the other day, giving up nearly half the gain, and I am still mad at myself over that. Well, since trading is supposed to be done without emotion, I need to get a good grip before my next trade. And by the way Sue, I keep looking at PSFT too, is that like a quadruple bottom now. Maybe tax selling is holding it back ? I'm sure you will see your target before too long. One last note, one would not have known the market was down today from looking at Thomas Sterner's new picks. Very nice Tom. Can you tell that I am procrastinating from doing a project that I need to do tonight ? David
