Dave

Thank you very much for sharing this information on your 1st experience with Schwab IPO Dept. It is going to be very interesting with a hot IPO.

I have received prior e-mail from Schwab on IPO's back last summer but this is the first that I have elected to participate in.

How do they notify you of what your allotment is? I've also requested 1000 and have never participated in one of the IPOs before.

Thanks.

David B. Higgs,

Schwab has been consistantly participating
in IPO's for quite some time now. If you are not getting
the e-mail, go to the Schwab IPO web page www.schwab-ipos.com

Dave, I have been on Schwab's "500" list and have been getting their IPO offerings for at least the last 6 months. Mostly they have been secondary offerings and/or on companies that didn't sound too promising. It would be interesting to see how these past offerings fared after their IPO but I didn't keep a list of them.

If anyone knows how to obtain this list of these former Schwab IPO's please let me know and I will research them and post the results.

Also Dave, did you sell immediately after your gain and were you "punished" by Schwab?

regards, sailor

Schwab only gives out IPO shares to Schwab 500 customers. If you're not a Schwab 500 customer, no matter how much you request, you will get nothing.

Once the Schwab 500 customers are in with their orders, Charles Schwab will consider your request based on several factors:

1) how good of a customer you are?

2) how much do you trade with them?

3) how much commission do they generate off you?

4) how much money are there in your account?

5) have you traded your IPO within the 30 day period?

I have never participated in their IPO offering because even though I have been a customer with Schwab for a long time, they never told about the IPO offering. I had to find out through word of mouth.

I trade extensively with Schwab and since this is my first IPO, I would be damn pissed if they don't come through with some meaningful shares with me.
