This very well may be the answer to Charles' question as to what happened to SUNW this afternoon. Although (IMO) it's particularly great news for the future success of Java, the whole 'open source' thing is a big question mark for Wall Street. We all know what happens when Wall Street has big question marks.

It remains to be seen if this will make for one big happy Java family (it should). One thing for sure though is that tonight, 'open source' and 'open standards' are that much closer around the campfire, and SUNW reigns supreme as the Napoleon of the 'open' computing world.

Apart from Wall Street's equating good franchise with things 'closely held' and 'prorietary', this is all a big win for the future value of SUNW equity. If Bill Gates was scared before, he's on Thorazine now.
