T,
Funny you should mention that...
It's pretty much proven that Intel has to down-bin high speed parts to fill lower speed orders. About 98% of P-II-300 Deschutes chips will run at 450MHz...
On the lower end, Intel continues to pit the CeleronA against the K6-2 and the war continues to get nastier.
From Pricewatch...
CeleronA 300 $80 (I've seen them for $79)
K6-2-300 $80
Celeron 333 $93
K6-2-333 $98...

And Intel will supposedly make 8 million Celerons this quarter...
If they do it without margin erosion it will be an amazing feat...
As far as clearing out high end inventory, that's an interesting suggestion...they can always down-bin...

Jim

Pretender - re: "to clear out the high priced inventory they are stockpiling to make their increased 4Q earnings numbers. "

Are you serious?

This is ludicrous !

You can't make EARNINGS by stockpiling product.

You make earnings by SELLING products - at a PROFIT.

Time for you to short Intel again - and lose some more dough !
