From briefing this morning,

09:01 ET @Home Corp. (ATHM) 63 1/8: CEO of Netscape Communications (NSCP), James Barksdale, says he will probably step down from ATHM's board of directors because of a conflict of interest with his company's proposed merger with AOL. Separately, Prudential Securities is starting coverage of ATHM with an "accumulate" rating. Stock indicated 1 7/8 pts higher in pre-market.

I agree, and the way to maintain freedom is to allow each user to decide for themselves what they want to see when they first sign on. You should not be forced to see ATHM, AOL, or any other portal unless you choose to use that portal. The situation right now is that the internet model has evolved from a number of pure ISPs to a few combination ISP/portals. This is not a problem unless one of them monopolizes your entry into the internet and only allows entrance through their portal.
