I too have been waiting with bated breath to see what Deakin was going to do. As Deakin goes, so goes higher ed.

Was happy to sleep in today and find that my limit orders for AAPL at lower prices hadn't been tripped. Of course there's still time.

I don't think the channel is stuffed--not with rumors of G3 shortages at the end of the month, not with what I've seen and heard about boxes on hand at stores. But I do think inventory is going to be up over the six day level from last quarter. It's the nature of being back in the consumer market and also the nature of getting all those boxes out to Best Buy, Europe, etc. The shorts think they have a story here with Best Buy sales slow, Microsoft resurgent, Apple laying off seasonal workers, etc. But unless earnings estimates are lowered, Apple still looks like it makes the quarter easily. And even making the numbers doesn't seem like it is built into the price. Ie, we go higher from here. And soon.

Any more sales reports from overseas?

Has MaxPain changed in the last few days or is it still at $37.50?

Marc

S. Jobs at CAUSE98 offered no major news. Positive news is being presented at the confernece in the form of demos of macs running latest versions of Oracle Financials applications products and SCT (Systems Computer Technology) apps via Mac Runtime for Java version 2.1(beta). Approx 3800 Higher Ed IT managers at this conference. Oracle Financials and SCT are major app vendors to the Higher Ed market. Overall this was a very good showing of the ability of the Mac to continue to be a viable option for Higher Ed admin and academic applications. SCT and Oracle seem to be solid partners with Apple on all this.
