U.S. current account deficit sets record in Q3

WASHINGTON, Dec 9 (Reuters) - The deficit in the broadest measure of U.S. trade widened to a record $61.3 billion from July through September, the Commerce Department said on Wednesday.

The current account trade deficit grew by 8.1 percent in the third quarter from $56.69 billion in the second quarter. It measures not only trade in goods and services but also investment flows into and out of the United States, making current account the most all-encompassing gauge of trade activity with the rest of the world.
