Cynics all!? I agree with others about this idea that party has nothing to do with honesty -- politicians, to get where they are usually wind up being yes-men to some extent. Surprised that you think "liberals" are really more honest. I took it to be a tongue-in-cheek comment until you responded to these other guys.

I have my reasons for preferring some of the repub ideals, but I haven't hoodwinked myself into thinking that the party necessarily attracts folks who are more ethical.

Unfortunately the platforms of either party are worthless -- it's the same old game -- promise to stand up for ideals -- then do what you think you have to in order to get a bone.

As a dem you must be pretty unhappy with Slick. He's a lot of things but he's no liberal (or conservative). He's just in it for whatever he can get.

Mike, this isn't the "Is Clinton Really A Slimeball?" thread, so I'll make this second rebuttal and drop the subject. (We need to make room for more of MMV's predictions :-))

While it may make you feel better to denigrate our country's icons, like Jefferson, Washington, Reagan, or whomever, it is irrelevant to the proceedings at hand. When my kids say, "Johnny did it too," it has little impact on the judgement awaiting them. If "he did it too" were a defense, we could clear out our centers of incarceration.

Although it is being dragged kicking and screaming into doing its duty under the Constitution, Congress will decide the issue. In the end, our opinions matter very little.
