Nothing wrong with that. I'm not aware of any law that says they can't sell their gold for whatever currency they choose. After all, if gold is not a commodity, it's also a currency. It's unfortunate that so many believe it is something more than that!

Why then didn't they sell the gold outright and get their t-bill interest instead of the miniscule lease rate, that has a much higher credit risk associated with it.
