I think that the price runup is due not just to a successful private placement, but to the higher likelihood of a major EOM agreement given this particular private placement.

Had the placement been through a vanilla banker without ties to the technology industry, then we'd be looking at a case of a small company needing cash to move to another level of marketing, development, whatever. But as a CEO of a major player like Compaq, Canion should know about the large-scale storage problem, rapid growth of this market, and the potential for a solution like Tricord's.

Dreamer, what's your point? All the facts are that this is a well structured venture with a great management team and high profile investors. If this is a problem for you, don't buy. All I can think is that you lost a large amount on a similar opportunity. They all don't play out the way we hope. It's a risk until the product sells. By the time you know that you've missed the opportunity.
