sorry....a Non-ASTM post <G> bnyn America Online to Carry Bell Atlantic and GTE Yellow Pages Dulles, Virginia, Dec. 9 (Bloomberg) -- America Online Inc., the world's largest online service, signed a three-year agreement to carry Bell Atlantic Corp. and GTE Corp. Yellow Pages, in exchange for $31 million in guaranteed revenue. In picking up Bell Atlantic and GTE, America Online will drop Banyan Systems Inc.'s online consumer phone directory at year's end, when Banyan's contract expires. Under the Bell Atlantic-GTE agreement, it will be paid from advertising sales and distribution revenue. GTE's SuperPages and Bell Atlantic's BigYellow databases will be available to more than 14 million subscribers and to visitors of the company's aol.com and Digital City World Wide Web sites, American Online said in a statement. The Dulles, Virginia-based company has been boosting the revenue it gets from advertising and electronic-commerce agreements since it switched to a flat-rate subscriber fee two years ago. Bell Atlantic, GTE and America Online will all sell advertising on the Yellow Pages' common database. America Online said in August it wouldn't renew its contract for using Banyan's residential directory. Shares of American Online rose 1 7/8 to 92 1/4 in early afternoon trading. GTE fell 1 5/8 to 64 3/8, while Bell Atlantic dropped 2 5/16 to 55 11/16 and Banyan rose 5/8 to 9 5/8.
