Gold Price In A Deflationary Environment

Alex or Anyone,

If we buy the conspiracy theory that the central banks and the Fed are acting to drive down the price of gold to help contain inflation, does that mean that in a deflationary environment they will take steps to increase the price of gold to decrease deflation?

I havn't seen anyone address this.
