I assume nobody will care about this either.

>>On the Dow, shares of Merck (MRK), a joint-venture partner of Astra, tumbled 6-13/16 to 152. The sharp decline, which came in the last hour of trading, was largely the result of the company issuing a lower-profit forecast for 1999 than Wall Street had expected. <<

>> Cleveland-based Parker Hannifin Corp. (PH) told Wall Street late Wednesday it expects second quarter results, due out Jan. 19, to miss their mark.
<Picture>The industrial parts maker blamed the anticipated profit shortfall on reduced orders stemming from softness in the semiconductor industry and economic uncertainties in Asia, Latin America and Europe.
<Picture>Diluted earnings per share are expected to be 10 percent to 15 percent below the 63 cents per share Parker Hannifin posted in the year-ago quarter. <<

Mike, a belated Happy Birthday. I'm laying relatively low as I've
got most of my selling done and there isn't much to do except
methodically acccumulate BEARX.

Hope this doesn't start a
phlogiston war; Krugman isn't pulling any punches here:
slate.com.

Take care,

and may your putz prosper.

Puts, puts, I meant puts!!!
