Off topic: Ahhh....the Avro Aero. Canada "snatched DEFEAT from the jaws of victory" on that one! I can't help but wonder what could have been, if Diefenbaker hadn't bowed to American pressure.

I don't believe it has been proved that Diefenbaker did indeed scrap the Aero as a result of American pressure. I have talked with people about this, and they don't want to believe it. Nevertheless, I am of the opinion that he did. The unreasonable action of destroying all records, plans, and most of the planes as a result of Diefenbaker's orders, has no other suitable explanation than the above.
