AFCI added to The Raging Bull's "Raging Portfolio"

Okay, that's not such a big, deal, I guess, but it's interesting how much good press like this that AFCI's been receiving. I just noticed tonight that Wired magazine's "The Wired Investment Portfolio" added AFCI in November.

Notice the reference to Sprint as a "big customer".

Our second local loop bandwidth play is Advanced Fibre
Communications (AFCI). AFCI makes a product called a
Universal Modular Carrier. This device enables phone
companies to hook up any customer's phone to their
network, no matter what language the consumer's device
uses. AFCI's Carrier can handle numerous protocols,
including ISDN, DSL, and anything fiber, coaxial, or
wireless. Ameritech, France Telecom, GTE, and Sprint
are all big customers.

Clearly, AFCI's technology is a key enabler for local phone
companies seeking to offer high bandwidth products such as
DSL to their customers to compete with the cable modems.

After flying high, AFCI's stock has fallen sharply to earth in
recent months. The company's sales have been hurt by the
global crisis, and management was caught hyping its
technology and not focusing on selling its product.
Worrisome, yes, but we think the risk/reward at these levels
are favorable.
