One of my correspondents suggested linking to the OptiComp site in order to get the scoop on board level opto-electronic devices that are Pure in design. As a matter of practicality these devices are designed around the DWDM concept, but they are amenable to other optical transmission techniques too. opticomp.com I thought that the article, "P. S. Guilfoyle, J. M. Hessenbruch, R. V. Stone, "Free-Space Interconnects for High-Performance Optoelectronic Switching," IEEE Computer, February 1998", located in OptiComp's library was particularly informative. Opticomp is frontier applied photonics development and shares a similar niche with SilkRoad. The two companies could create a video optiphone, an end-to-end Pure video send and receive device with almost unlimited scalability. SilkRoad stretches the string and OptiComp ties on their tin can.
