Steven,
Are we now to hold all people to the standard of Ghandi? It will be a mighty a small club I am afraid. that is like saying tht you dont like Oscar Robertson, because he wasnt Micheal Jordan. Yes, sometimes people can change a nation or even the world. 99.99999% of the people are not capable of that. Sometimes it is enough to dedicate your entire life to diseased and dying people, and to do what you can to help them. I would hazard a guess that is much more than anyone on this thread has ever done by multiples. it is great to sit on these threads and pontificate, but she dedicated he life to things we only talk about.(obviously myself included, perhaps even more than most)
she spent her life in the trenches, caring for sick and dying people, and you condemn her because she didnt do more?

Forget the church, if they want to say she is a saint or the devil, I could care less. what matters is the reality of her accomplishments.
I am not christian, and am not here to either applaud or condemn the church. However, sometimes people on either side of that equation are so eager to make a point that they use far too wide of a brushstroke and paint over many truths.

I find it interesting that some one with her dedication to gicing and charity could be assaulted because it is felt that she didnt enough, or didnt do it in the right way. would you want to spend your entire life in leper camps in Pakistan, administering to the diseased and dying? is that a life you would want for your children?
