Ma cherie,
once a year Christmas arrives,
we put away all our differences,
and meet under the mistletoe,
to innocently preform a ancient ritual,
the kiss under the mistletoe.

Ma cherie,
How long will you punish me?
The day until this ritual is over is soon here.
How long will you punish me?

Ma cherie
Please talk to me
Ma cherie

Ma cherie,
Under the canopy of night,
I look into your eyes,
reflections of the moon and stars,
it's like looking into the heavens.

Ma cherie,
Your eyes, beautiful,
yet mysterious,
leaves my soul filled with happiness.

Ma cherie,
It's the season of mistletoe,
it's end is quickly approaching,
will I ever receive a kiss
under the mistletoe?

Men are not all made of steel,
though some women think we are.
A mans heart,
like potters clay,
can be moulded,
tamed into what you desire.
Their hearts break as easily
as fragile unfired clay.
By that time
broken pieces are forever loss.

- Cheeky Kid 98

P.S.
All Cheeky wants is a kiss under the mistletoe, or his heart will be broken forever.

Dreaming of Flight

Looking upward,
at the safety of the sky,
a broken robin lay hiding.
It's endless flee from danger,
left it exhausted, thirsty,
a broken wing lay limp at its side.

Somehow the robin knew the end was near.
Still calling out to its near by mate,
brings the risk of predators.
Did the robin know this,
or was it just last words?
I could hear its call most of the night,
by morning it was quiet.

As I approached its hiding place,
a nearby robin took flight to safety,
but at my feet lay the lifeless body of the injured robin.
The one that fled was its mate,
that stayed with it throughout the night.
It left me with one question;
Is love reserved only for humans?
