roq, understood. however, would you rather short intel today and hold through december expiration or buy a dec 100 put with the exact same amount of funds? the potential liability is more on the short but the probability of loss and the probable amount of the loss is MUCH more on the option.

the point is it really depends on the system used. buying dec 100 puts with the same amount of cash as it would take to short is a poor, poor system.
