Go to askmerrill.com and subscribe to free trial. ML ranks it 1-1.look at 2 pager back in Oct. I have been targeting this stock to buy below 11 as that is where my software says it should bottom given the momentum of the current downswing. I thought the same thing you did when i saw no debt and ML's analysis. The drawback is apparently a bigger political risk as they deal in LA and Asia instead of the Gulf and NS. Maybe a Chavez factor here now (slowing drilling etc)?

What are the long term prospects, say 1-2 years out, of HLX V. VRC??? Which one will be the higher flyer and make one more money from these levels?? which has the least downside risk from here?? All opinions appreciated.

Slider, good call on SDC. This is a powerful company that I have been watching for many months. Rode it for 4 points a few months back and was not expecting to get it again at this price. Sitting on the bid at 11 7/8 right now. Zero exposure in the GOM, the weakest market in the world, and their land rigs are not rusting on an Oklahoma prairie but mostly harsh-environment, desert rigs in the ME. Their majority owners certainly have a vested interest in keeping SDC rigs busy.

PE is currently 5 (but may rise to an outrageously high 6 next year). The S&P meanwhile sells for 26 and SDC is scheduled to grow twice as fast as the S&P. If stock valuation is mainly current price and future prospects, SDC has a PEG that is 10% of the general market. It even pays a little dividend. If this isn't an eventual winner, I'am giving up on the patch.
