To all, Funny Xmas lies from a ChasteManintheHattan portfolio mgr. on CNBS today. He said he was buying chip stocks because "the earnings are there."

Earth to Goofus, Earth to Goofus! Name even one chip co. showing eps growth at a rate as high as its pe ratio. If that's too hard, name two chip cos. showing eps growth this year at a rate as high as the pe ratio on the S&P 500. There are 100s of chip cos., so this should be a layup. <G> These twits still don't understand that hype is not reality. You can scream all you want that the eps are there, but, when you see the numbers, they must be out to lunch right now.

Of course, most of these shake and bake fund managers think "beating the estimate" is the same as good earnings.
