Fred,

I've been tempted to buy into oil, but I recognize that buying oil is probably a timing play right now. I simply don't think I'd have the patience to buy an oil co and hold it for for a while. I'd end up trading it, and that's not what I do well given my job, and the high maintenance levels required to jump in and out of stocks.

Part of my decision is based on an earlier comment that oil is a commodity, and I buy that argument. Similar to the reason I decided to stay out of the disk drive stocks. Also, the Saudi's are probably low cost producers, and I'm hearing they might need to make an example soon to hold OPEC together. So the flood gates could come open and hurt alot of producers real bad.

Good luck with your trading though.

Shane
