Yes I read it, I even responded to it. But it is ridiculous. The NEA does not control curriculum. It is our school boards that to a large extent control curriculum. In our town there was such outrage over the new math program the board approved a few years ago that this election incumbents were voted out. If curriculum was truly outrageous and a majority of people who actually cared gave a damn, then they could change the school board.

Schools are made up of individuals- not all of them will meet your "special needs". But that is the danger of living in the world, you will run into people who do not agree with you and so will your children. The schools are not working against you actively- the schools have a hard enough time teaching the basics- I do not see a lot of effort put into destroying moral beliefs (in fact I see no effort put into destroying moral beliefs- but of course by "destroying moral beliefs" YOU mean your child should not be exposed to ideas contrary to your own, that probably won't constitute much of an education but it is your kid. So again, I urge you to home school if you cannot bear the thought of alien ideas- being exposed to new ideas is what education is supposed to be about)
