SGI showing real Strength today...

For SGI to end flat on 911K when the overall market tanked

Means a lot to me.. Things are looking better each day...

Regards

Hopefully this it timely/useful information...

Here's an interesting summary of the microfilm online project powered by a number of O2000's and O200's. Terabytes (<-- plural) of data, comprising billions (<-- with a 'b') of images.

sgi.com
umi.com

This is great example for what should be SGI's marketing mantra in the server market,

"If you need a system more scalable and powerful than ours...

IT DOESN'T EXSIST!!!!"

or perhaps a less strident --

"Affordability -- within your reach,
scalability -- beyond your needs,
capability -- without equal."

Essentially the project is to take ALL of the UMI microfilms and put them online. YOW! The number of images, bytes of data and required throughput is simply ASTOUNDING!!!

Next month I'd love to see a follow-up on just how good digitized microfilm looks on a Visual Workstation with the 1600SW -- anybody listening?

JMHO,

john
