Senthil -

I'm not really advancing any particular argument anyway. Just pointing out some facts.

The evidence shows that Zip sales growth continues. But in one way it doesn't matter what the unit growth is. Bears have made the argument that Iomega will never be able to grow earnings again, because they will have to continue to drop the price of Zip to sustain sales. Ken Pomeranski comes to mind as one who has stated many times that selling twice as many drives to make the same amount of money (or even to lose money) isn't growth.

I happen to believe that that particular argument ignores the likelihood that cost reductions and, more importantly, increased disk sales will more than make up for price reductions over time.

And of course, that argument also ignores the fact that Iomega could always get lucky and produce another hit product. Sure, it's possible that they could have nothing but flops from now on, but I don't see that as being a foregone conclusion.

I'm still hanging around on the sidelines. I'm not sure when or if I'll buy in again. My wife is convinced Iomega is cursed.
