More from the gold thread> I would not hang my hat on this, but would not totally ignore it either. This guy usually is pretty level headed.

"Sorry, can't go into great detail other than to say that I spent a good deal of time working in Saudi Arabia and the middle East at one
point in time and have some contacts there.

If you dig around on the net though, I think you'll likely find some stories about Arab OPEC producers beginning to work more
cohesively toward lowering production in 99."

The last time the government got serious about "doing something about oil" they messed up the whole economy. Remember Nixon's wage price controls and the economic disaster that followed? I hope they stay far away from this issue. Yes, they should buy oil while it is cheap and stash it away in the oil reserve, but I wonder whether any of them have the brains or the guts to think ahead on any matter.

Just heard Congressman JD Hayworth speak: US troop strength is now half of what it was during Desert Storm. Thank you Clinton for balancing the budget. If we do go after Saddam it will, of necessity, be a lot smaller show than last time.

From other sources: as to those Patriot Missiles being sent to Israel to protect our President ... about a year ago there was a huge hooo haaaa about how truly ineffective they had proven to be last time around. Seems that for each hit they scored, there were a lot of unpublicised misses. Would it not be poetic if Saddam managed to knock off Clinton during his visit to Israel this week using Loral/Hughes technology in his newest missiles against our underfunded military.
