Everything you need to know about ADSL

mts.mb.ca

One of the main drawbacks of ADSL is the upload (sending data). With cable the upload and downloads are the same speed 1.5Mbps. With most ADSL services the upload is 1/20 of the speed of cable (normally 64 kbps).

Why do you care?????
If you are only doing downloads for stocks and other things then you don't really care. However if you want to send large attachments over E-mail, such as high resolution scanned pictures, or want to send files to other people you will really notice the difference. The are currently working on this problem and in one place in Canada (I think Calagary) they have the upload up to 1Mbps.

The price between cable and ADSL is about the same. You may want to buy a modem instead of rent one since you can pick one up for under $100. If you have a lot of people using the same cable in your area your download times will be reduced fairly dramatically.

Best Regards
