What's going on here at Oracle? 8i with it's IFS(Internet File System) and WebDB(with it's web front end) are all about drag and drop ease of use. you literally drag the word doc or picture from your desktop into your database. any business person can use a database now. yes it's fast, but I think it's ease of use is a bigger deal. Microsoft has been seriously unaware of what kind of progress were up to here. With them thinking that they can control a java standard, and playing with activex, and purporting that their pathetic Sybase database is easier to use than ours...I just laugh. Gates was caught with his pants down over the Web and he's caught again with the new paradigm shift in web database computing. (He's still trying to sell Kerosine while Oracle is already developing Nuclear power) SQL7 has serious serious flaws. Willy what about that ol' row level locking? Hey schmells, million bucks says you miss(by 100 times). Hey, schmells, what's this about your licensing, says here I have to license all my employees even though they're not using the database... I installed network computers with Mark Benioff three months ago in Oakland schools. When we got to the schools, we could hardly believe our eyes. The teachers there were half way through setting the computers up. They had taken everything out of the boxes and connected the monitors and the keyboards up to the NC's and wham they were up and running on the web. They didn't even need us! These NC's are literally so easy a grade school teacher can set them up. No .exe or .lib or .dll or .bullshit to mess with. No end user admin. No sneaker net. Microsoft's empire is crumbling from a grass roots level. just sit back and watch. Having money is insufficient to having insight. We have both. Microsoft only has money. They embrace, extend, and extinguish; there's no insight there. We're Oracle(omnipotent radically advanced creations of larry ellison). you haven't seen nuthin.
