GERN...article in tomorrow's Science Magazine confirms my earlier post

that they will probably be allowed to receive federal funding for stem cell research. I reported yesterday that today's issue of Nature Magazine had a news article that stated that certain forms of stem cell research (in particular, forms performed by GERN) would be allowed funding by the US Govt. Tomorrow's issue of Science (on the web now for subscribers), has a much more extensive article, which basically states that the research, as performed by GERN (and perhaps some other biotech companies), was eligible for government funding, since they were using stem cells from fetal matter rather than embrios.

This could, along with much buyout speculation, explain the recent activity in GERN stock.

Lets hope that Arlen Specter and other senators will do the right thing!! This could be THE MOST significant scientific discovery of our lifetime! Also, tomorrow's issue of Science has further articles pertaining to the successful cloning of cattle in Japan, but this pales in scientific terms, to stem cell research and developments.
