Hi John: Re: << If the number of shares I bought ever returns to the 30s I'll have a high end Mercedes..>> Yeh, I picked up an E320 all-wheel drive last March, after a 7 months wait...but what a car! Unfortunately, I can't attribute it to CS...(;<
John, better get your order in now and pick it up when CS is up there!!! (:>

Anyhow, I did receive a response to my e/m to Benson (sent by Jim Caldwell!) Basically, a boiler plate response -- probably replicated to all those bitching about the stock!

Here it is:

Thank you for your recent memo regarding Cabletron's third quarter
earnings pre-announcement.

We understand your concerns.

The senior management team and I are currently scrutinizing Cabletron's business plan and operations to ascertain the areas in which we can make an impact on our financial performance. Our top priority is to return the company to profitability and deliver improved shareholder value.

The challenge that lies before us is significant, but I remain confident that every Cabletron employee worldwide understands the urgency of the situation.

Further details regarding Cabletron's third quarter results are expected to be available on December 21, 1998. We will make a transcript of the quarterly results teleconference available on www.cabletron.com.

Sincerely,

Craig Benson
Cabletron Systems, Inc.

Hope no further bombshells prior to or on 12/21.

Good luck to all.

<if ASND did it from 23 to 63 why can't CS go from 8 to 26?!! > Uh...duh...maybe because ASND is growing its business and its profits and CS is collapsing. Maybe because ASND has the products the market is looking for today and CS doesn't. Maybe because CS has a competent management team and CS doesn't have any management...

john,
I'm in the same boat as you are but why are you so cheery. These folks are running at an operating loss. I don't think it gets worse than that. I wish them a hard working christmas, and I hope they enjoy it
