JLP: Online Brokers Yes, I just realized today that Webstreet does not let me us a stop order with OTC stocks. What would be a good online broker that allows all that good stuff, and is $15 or less a trade? Also, if one were to change brokers, how is one's portfolio transferred from one broker to another? I sent that question to Suretrade many days ago, and never got a response. 8^) Dave D

Joseph: I have heard bad things about Datek. Was originally considering them and then got too many mails telling me to not waste my time. About the only ones that I would be willing to consider right now are E*Trade and Brown & Co. Using Schwab now and they hosed me pretty bad about 2 weeks ago with the NAVR trade on that big gap day. Still disputing the trade. TJ

Joseph, I am a newbie and started some experimental day trading about a month ago. I started with DLJ and then opened another account with Datek. I am very happy with Datek. They update portfolios immediately and send out e-mail confirmations of trades. Sometimes, when there is heavy market activity, you cannot log in to their servers. It happened only twice or thrice in a month. I mostly do limit trades and do not have margin enabled ( I want to keep it that way). They are reasonably fast and provide unlimited real time quotes. The UI is a bit clunky but does the job okay. I will be happy to answer any specific questions. I use minimal features and do between 2-10 trades a day. Regards Dorai
