By gaap accounting inventories are carried at, (LCM), lower of cost or market, ALWAYS. You somehow imply that Intel is carrying part of the sales price in finished goods inventory. This is preposterous.

When I worked in a manufacturing finance group, we performed LCM analysis on a periodic basis. While I cannot assure you that our monthly, (Internal only), balance sheets were ALWAYS at LCM, I can assure you the quarterly statements were supported with an analysis of the carrying cost of inventory compared to market value.
