Re CDMA - This is not the kind of chip you can just get a few samples of and try it out and see how you like it. It needs to be designed into a prototype in order to evaluate. And that work needs to begin way before you plug the chip in. VLSI has several design wins, both for the standard chip, and custom ASICs. At present my understanding is testing is being completed by these customers. So the question is how many of those handsets the customers will decide to produce, placing orders for the VLSI processors. The problem for VLSI is they had the most highly integrated solution, but Qualcomm will be introducing processors as good or better, and VLSI does not have a next generation on the drawing board. The only market advantage for VLSI may be the ability to customize the CDMA core into ASICs. Jim
