GeoTel Communications Acquires SS7 Assets of Danar Corporation; Acquisition Expands Portfolio of SS7 Network Protocols

LOWELL, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1998--GeoTel
Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:GEOC), a leading provider of
customer-interaction software solutions for mission-critical call center
applications, today announced its acquisition of certain assets of Seattle,
Washington-based Danar Corporation for $2 million in cash and the
assumption of certain liabilities. Danar is a privately held network interface
development and consulting company specializing in Signaling System 7
interface applications.
Under the terms of the agreement, GeoTel has acquired certain assets of
Danar comprising primarily of intellectual property related to SS7 network
protocols. All of the employees of Danar will become GeoTel employees.
This transaction is not expected to significantly impact operating results.
The acquisition is the result of a long-standing technical relationship
between the two companies and will enable GeoTel to extend its core
competency and technology leadership to include a broader capability in
deploying SS7 protocols. The assimilation of Danar's workforce into
GeoTel also adds significant SS7 protocol experience and knowledge.
