Does Apple just want to attract computer illiterates right now?

Yes. It's a HUGE market.

I wish they would start kissing the feet of graphic designers/artists...their bread and butter!

START kissing their feet? What do you call a G3 running at 333Mhz with a 9MB U/W SCSI hard drive and 128MB SDRAM out of the box?

Sales of iMac would suggest that there's more bread and more butter out there than you think. Wait for Yosemite next month. Pro users will get their due. Does anything Steve has said over the past six months make you feel that Apple is ignoring the high-end user? Patience, Annette, patience. Go read http://www.macosrumors.com, which lately has had some great stories about the upcoming pro machines (with specs!).

Perhaps if they'd bathe more often ...

You have a very valid point. After the "Step 1, step 2, what? No step 3?" bit plays out this year, they should follow with something like "After I plugged in my new iMac, I..." and then go into fast slide show mode as the narrator lists a full days work in the life of a well rounded computer pro with the graphics profession well represented.

Your statement that the iMac does not make a good computer for a graphic designer has me wondering. What are the shortcomings other than the 15" screen? Granted, this little black keyboard and hocky puck mouse need replacing, but the heart of the machine is pure form following function. Quite capable speedwise.

If I were running a business based on graphics design work, I would certainly want one of the tower G3s as the cornerstone of the office, but it seems natural to me to put iMacs on the desk tops not involved in large format composition projects (page layout) and network everything possible across the Ethernet 10/100.

Hi Annette,

I'm getting sick of the "I'm a moron, but I know how to plug two cords into an outlet and a phone jack" IMac commercials.
Does Apple just want to attract computer illiterates right now?

I for one want everything to be simple... it doesn't mean I am a moron. It is just that I have better things to do rather than fiddle around everything that I want to use. I have friends who can start from chip level and design their own computers yawning for simplicity in computers they use at home.
