I'm not saying that Qualcomm is lying - I'm saying that both Motorola and Ericsson have quite consciously misrepresented their market share situation in the past. This makes me really wary about company-provided marketshare information. I do know that Dataquest has usually been pretty accurate and apparently unbiased. I also know that GSM Alliance has claimed that GSM sales grew faster than CDMA sale in the third quarter and that certain of the people I know in USA are saying that TDMA really did grow faster than CDMA during the first nien months of this year. Nokia's phone sales growth surprised all analysts in the 3Q - Qualcomm was not able to show a similar sales growth surprise.

When I put all this together I think that it seems that GSM and TDMA are doing better than was expected. So if you ask me who do I believe here I would have to say the word of Qualcomm alone on its marketshare does not outweigh these other sources. Everyone is free to draw their own conclusions - and I haven't seen anyone claim to possess "infinite wisdom" around here.

<<Sometimes I think the three threads might as well be combined into one.>>

Dave: Maybe not combine the threads but start a new one for CDMA/3G/IPR, or something? ...Tim
