Announce Joint Sales Agreement

WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1998--Applix, Inc. (NASDAQ:APLX -
news), the leader in real-time online analytical processing (OLAP) applications and the first to
market an OLE DB for OLAP compliant engine, and Educom Business Solutions, a leading software
training and consulting organization, today announced the immediate sale of Educom's TM1 OLAP
software sales business to Applix, Inc. With this agreement, Applix and its designated resellers will
provide direct TM1 product fulfillment to Educom's worldwide customer base, including such
multinational companies as AT&T, Ernst & Young, Exxon, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Phillip-Morris,
United Nations, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Bankers Trust, Ericsson, and Lego. This sale will provide

Educom Business Solutions will continue its role as consultant and integration provider for its TM1
