I regret not being from the South because there are elements of the culture, strong elements, as or like flavors, sounds, memories, that appeal to me and I don't have.

Then on the other hand, I remember at times fearing it as a place maybe I couldn't have handled.

PS: I spent much time waiting for my name to be mis-pronounced as well. Especially the waiting-for-a-campsite rollcall at Big Sur. One time someone got it right. We were stunned. Almost missed the campsite.

I never had a maiden name; this fits in with my theory that girls get everything.
