If you can place phone trades, try calling them and see if they'll add the "versus purchase date of" to the confirm. If not, tell them it anyway, and write down the date and time of call, and write it on your confirm yourself when you get it. You have fulfilled the requirements of "identifying" the shares to be sold, if the IRS challenges you, you can point to your records of the phone call etc.

Hi Pices,

I have DLJ also.

When you are ready to trade just give them a call. Tell them exactly the date of purchase of the shares you want to sell.

I have done it many times and they are quite helpful and efficient in making sure that the correct shares are sold.

I hope this helps.
