No skin off of Dell's a$#@. <vbg>

Rude:
That may be but the 'consumer space' has the lowest margin as far as I know,so I would think it is quite all right with Dell if they want to dominate the sub-cheapies and I hope they concentrate all their energies and resources in this area.

'Finally, in the consumer space, CPQ has the most efficient model, and has been growing share against everyone - I expect them to be over 40% by 1Q99 in that space, and to continue share growth.'

DOG,

CPQ direct program targets the small business segment(SMB).
This is the segment that GTW and MUEI are after. DELL probably is getting some business there but they are strongest in the medium and large corporate accounts.

CPQ has a presence in the same corporate markets that CPQ addresses. Thus, if saturation is occurring for DELL it is also occurring for CPQ.

DELL is not really in the consumer market at all but GTW is in that market.

CPQ's target is DELL's stock price. CPQ's product sales targets are GTW and MUEI in the small business market.

Now it looks like Techdata and Ingram are going to be competing with CPQ, IBM and HWP in the white box market. This can not be good news for CPQ.

The WSJ article was a public relations plant which had the purpose of trying to get DELL stock holders to sell and buy CPQ stock. This article happened after profit taking occurred yesterday in CPQ stock.

The smart money is going to get out of CPQ stock before the end of the current quarter. (see- hedge fund manager's comments in the WSJ ).

Regards,

Jim Kelley
