jeff, where are USB OSR2.1 and 3dmark99?

I am going to be building a new machine soon. I agree
that they just got the bugs out of win 85. I have only
OSR 1. Will I be able to use AGP, or do I have to get
win 98?

Thanks,
Joe Hoane

Jeff, Chip, et al, why IS 32-bit important? A few people have posted here with comments to the effect that they can't really tell the difference. And if frame rate is the king differentiator (combined with ease of programming), then why is 3DFX's strategy flawed? The company seems to have hit the right price point for Banshee, and they should be there again with the infinitely superior V3. That sounds pretty nice.

If Rampage is a real product with a decent release date, it is difficult to find fault with the company's strategy.

you can get decent frame rates with 32 bit

Exactly! I can spend $170 and get decent framerates, or I can spend $120 and get astounding framerates, plus better 2D, plus Glide. Does 32 bit really negate those advantages?

Also, don't forget when your friends ask, do you want to say, "I've got an ATI board" or, "I've got a Voodoo board!"?

I went through all this with Rendition/Voodoo1. I chose Rendition because of the 24 bit, plus integrated 2D/3D. I got under-par 2D and problematic, under-performing 3D. I made the wrong decision and won't "unlearn" my lesson.
