How nasty can they get? Liquidate your securities at whatever prices they happen to be at at the moment?

Don't know which market maker it showed up under because I'm watching in NASDAQ Level I. I know that AMTD often preferences NITE and Trimark (TMRK ?). My sell limit price had a fraction of 11/32 for 2,000 shares. My order then showed up as the best ask beating out the previous best ask of 3/8. My order stayed there until filled. It took a few minutes and a bunch of partial fills but I was out and my partial fill quantities matched up with what I saw printed on the tape. It was like there was no market maker.
