WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Children who once might have died because of inherited immune disorders can get a second chance at life with a transplant of donated "cord blood" from the umbilical cord, doctors said on Sunday.

They said 80 percent of children under the age of 2 who would otherwise die lived when they got such transplants. <snip>
