I think Rick Mancuso wanted around 500k for this particular car. Small world - Lake Forest is a pretty nice place. As for the Intel chip discussion, it seems pretty clear to me that alternate suppliers give a boxmaker better pricing leverage. Back in the 1980's IBM salesman were 'order takers' for 3081/3090/etc. Fork over 20 million and get in line. I remember companies *selling* their places in line for new mainframe models. No pricing leverage for the customer. Today, with competition, the situation is far different, and mainframes are *much* more affordable. I wonder if Celeron would have been *invented* if AMD were not out there selling low priced chips...
