I think I got what "coning effect" is too. Its the same thing that happens when that little cyclone in your draining bathtub allows surface air to get down the drain before the tub is empty. The gas in the well starts to swirl, which sucks up anything on the bottom of the well. That would make me think that some sand is coming up as well, in essence we have a well that literally fraced itself the first few days.
