Yes, it will clean up our politics. But not in the way that the Republican supporters expect! There will be far fewer self-righteous, hypocritical Republicans in power in the next House and Senate after the Year 2000 elections. It will be a more multi-cultural, more diverse, more tolerant and more progressive lot in seats of power the next time around.

One of the portents of change? Gov. Gray Davis will have to redistrict California in the year 2000, and you can surely expect more Mexican-Americans to make it the next time. And most, if not all, of them will be Democrats.

The present Republican outbursts are nothing more than the pathetic death-throes of a small minority (soon to be a hopelessly tiny minority) of zealots who really believe that God has given them the power to make the rules that others have to live by, without question.

<<How is this impeachment push going to clean up our politics? >>

Dan, you've known my style much longer than that. I make no such claims. BC lied to you and me. He stuck his wagging finger in our faces and lied with every ounce of sincerity he had asking for our support. He's still doing it. You know that. He knows you know that. He's hoping he has us so dependant on him that we will enable him to continue.

He is in office because of the support we gave him. I am withdrawing mine. It is personal he is not worthy of my trust. He is in office on the basis of a social contract underwritten by our trust. He no longer deserves it.

If the stability of the government were more important than truth and justice we would not have the government we have today and slavery would still be an industry in America.
